Stoa Community: Dealing with Disappointment
One of the six foundational pillars of Stoa is "We Pursue Competitive Excellence." A wise Stoa club leader once said, "Competition is the engine of excellence." By taking competition seriously and striving for excellence, we not only grow as communicators but also honor the efforts of our peers and the volunteers and parents who make Stoa possible.
While competition offers numerous benefits, it inevitably leads to some personal disappointment. Learning to handle disappointment and constructive feedback are essential life skills that students develop through competition. Mastering these skills requires experience and learning how to harness disappointment and feedback for personal growth.
During challenging times, both students and parents can benefit from insights shared by those who have faced similar struggles. This month, we hear from parent Ciro and alumna Jenny, who share their experiences on navigating the challenges of competitive speech and debate. Click to hear their stories.
