Speech in Summer

Do speech competitors take a break over the summer? Of course, but there are plenty of ways to keep your skills sharp in the off-season. The long, hot summer days provide a perfect opportunity for:

• Reading by the pool for an interp speech or Mars Hill

• Researching at your local library or online for a platform speech

• Volunteering for your favorite cause and gaining personal experience for a convincing Persuasive speech

• Watching NITOC Finals video recordings

• Reviewing your NITOC ballots for ideas on how to improve your future speeches

• Practicing articulation drills and continuing other speech exercises

• Watching movies with friends from the 2022–2023 Mars Hill list (available soon!)

• Poring over apologetics books

• Keeping up to date on the news for Extemp
